Good type is a series of workshops with a focus on lettering design. Established in 2010 in Berlin and periodically organized in and out of Germany, it has already welcomed over 150 attendants who want to learn more about typography. Held by letterer and designer Martina Flor it is tailored for beginners as well as for those with previous experience who want to improve their techniques to draw letters.
The workshop is based on the study of the Spencerian script, which was used in the United States during IXth century. This style, developed from the English Cursive, stands out for its delicately shaded lowercase and prominent capitals, with very intense shadows obtained with a special tool and a pointed pen.
A unique laboratory that combines both: lettering and calligraphy. In a one day intensive session, the participants will explore the two technical approaches as combinatory tools within the same design process.
This class is oriented to beginners, but it is open to anyone interested in improving their handwriting skills and calligraphy.
