For the third year in a row, Mota Italic is hosting the biggest Typo Berlin pre-party and exhibition opening evening.
This Wednesday from 18:00 till late, come by Mota Italic to check out the new exhibition »Word Jazz«, meet the artist Dru Brennan, meet not only the Berlin type crowd, but also many international typoholics visiting from all over the globe.
Written symbols are omnipresent in our culture. They open up the universe of the written word and give us directions in everyday life. But the distinct message inherent in their appearance is often only noticed subliminally. ‘ON–TYPE: Texts on Typography’ conveys the fascination of type design and shows classics from twentieth-century typographic history along with recent examples. The exhibition gathers together theses, manifestos and stocktaking accounts from twentieth-century typography in the German-speaking countries. It also presents type specimens and insiders’ typography magazines, and discusses the central protagonists and important debates in the history of typography regarding legibility, use of small letters in German, and the effects of digitization.

Fresh from Poland, Fajrant – Ala has a pen, chronicals the 20 resulting typefaces from a long-term type workshop in Katowice.
Friday, April 12th from 18:00 is the exhibition opening at Mota Italic. Come by, check out the typefaces, sip some wine, and debate the current state of type design and education.
For one week only (April 12 – 19), you can view an exhibition on Turkish culture at the Turkish House in Berlin. The show includes many decorative arts, but most interesting to you, dear readers, is probably the section of Arabic calligraphy.
Coming to Mota Italic tomorrow, the dynamic duo of Martina Flor and Giuseppe Salerno will show their first complete alphabet after three months of gruilling battles.
The opening is from 7pm with a short talk by Martina and Giuseppe at 7:30.

At Letters Are My Friends
On 19th of July the two parties Content & Form are competing visually and interactive at Letters Are My Friends’ typographic concept store: The collaborative exhibition CON<>FORM deals with the subject of conceptual contentdriven editorials versus free-form based graphic design within the setting of a politically incorrect debate: are content and form contradictory or complimentary?
If you’ll be in or around Berlin tonight, be sure to stop by the opening party at Mota Italic for their latest exhibition. There will be free drinks (including hot spiced wine to warm you up) starting at 6pm.

Come hang out at Mota Italic this Friday evening (Jan 20th, 2012) and celebrate the first show of the year “Rotation, Reflection, Repetition, Repetition”. The exhibition is comprised of 44 dizzying typographic patterns created by students of the UdK Berlin.
